MH SET 2026 Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

Candidates must hold a UGC-recognised Master’s degree in a SET subject or an equivalent recognised qualification.

  • Open/General and EWS: At least 55% marks in the Master’s degree or equivalent examination, without rounding off.
  • Eligible reserved categories: At least 50% marks for SC, ST, OBC, SEBC, DT/VJ/NT, PwD, transgender and orphan candidates, subject to the official category conditions.
  • Candidates awaiting their final Master’s result may apply provisionally. They must complete the degree with the required marks within two years from the date of the SET result.
  • Candidates should normally appear in the subject of their post-graduation. When that subject is not listed, a related or equivalent subject may be selected as permitted by the guidelines.

The reserved-fee category includes eligible SC, ST, PwD, transgender, orphan, OBC, DT/VJ/NT, SEBC non-creamy-layer and Open-EWS candidates. Other-state reserved candidates, except eligible Goa candidates, are treated as Open according to the official instructions.

The MH SET is conducted in two compulsory OMR-based sessions. There is a 30-minute interval between Paper I and Paper II.

MH SET Qualifying Marks and Cut-Off

Overall Qualifying Slots

The official result procedure sets the total qualifying slots at 6% of candidates who appeared in both papers.

Step 2

Category Allocation

Slots are allocated category-wise according to the applicable Maharashtra reservation policy.

Step 3

Subject-Wise Cut-Off

Final cut-offs are determined separately for each subject and category based on marks and available slots.

Scoring the minimum 40% or 35% does not automatically guarantee qualification. Candidates must also meet the final subject-wise and category-wise cut-off.
